At this date the peoples of North America mostly live in small scattered bands as hunter-gatherers. There are two exceptions to this way of life: on the west coasts some quite large fishing communities have grown up, living off the abundant marine life of the region; and, in a very localized area in the South West, some small farming communities have appeared.
At about now, some Native American peoples begin creating elaborate rock artworks on canyon walls and rock outcrops. The most famous of these are to be found along the Pecos river, in Texas.
