Timeline of Iran History: 3500 BC - AD 500

Iran 1000 BC

The Indo-European tribes now dominate all Iran, so much so that the modern name for the region is based on the name that they call themselves by, “Iranians”, or Noble Ones. In all likelihood they played an important role in the downfall of Elam, in the south-west of the region. This previously powerful kingdom is last heard of around 1100 BC.
