The period after 1500 BC saw Egypt as one of the greatest powers of her day, with an empire stretching into Palestine and Syria in the north and Nubia in the south. It also witnessed the construction of the great temple complexes at Luxor and the Valley of the Kings. It is during this period that the boy-king Tutankhamun briefly reigned.
Since about 1200 BC, however, the most enduring civilization of the ancient world has been slipping into decline. Political weakness at home has lost her her empire, and allowed invasions from across all her borders.
